Thank you to James Penha and The New Verse News for publishing my poem “On Another Average Evening” today.

I wrote “On Another Average Evening” after recently reading and hearing from my wife (who is a nurse) about the nurses at hundreds of hospitals across America trying to unionize and/or strike in order to get better working conditions. I wrote this poem as a look into the lives of many nurses, techs, and other healthcare workers, lives with which healthcare leadership is too often if not almost always much too unfamiliar, lives negatively affected by their poor working conditions.
