In the midst of our world’s response to the coronavirus pandemic, let us not forgot our brothers and sisters fighting for their freedom and for democracy in the ongoing Hong Kong Protests. We must also remember their spiritual and political ancestors, the members of the ’89 Democracy Movement who participated in The Tiananmen Square Protests in Beijing from April to June of 1989. The Hong Kong Protests is probably the most important political happening currently occurring.

“The Middle Days of May”

Your life on the line.
Your life on the line.
Don’t hesitate.
Don’t waste your time.
Don’t give in.
Don’t recant.
Protest the People’s government.
Stand for the people of the government.

The People’s Republic,
a people’s republic.
Propaganda.
Sincerely, lies.
Deceivers,
our Leaders.
Protest the People’s government.
Stand for the people of the government.

Please don’t give in yet.
Please don’t give up yet.
This is only
the middle days.
The world needs
your knowledge.
Protest the People’s government.
Stand for the people of the government.

Things will grow worse soon.
One man facing their might.
Then we will know.
Just give us time.
Help us know.
We must learn.
Protest the People’s government.
Stand for the people of the government.

Defiance, defiance;
compliance, compliance.
Don a mask and join us.
Raise your hands and sing hymns.

Persevere.
Holding to hope,
we stand together.
We will be remembered
in the middle days of May.
